The Nashbar MTB
has its Tiagra triple derailleur, Tiagra triple crank, index shifter and MT XT760 rear derailleur removed. A crappy Tourney triple goes on, and the rear shifter is replaced with a friction shifter. This is because I am replacing the low-normal RD with an 8-speed Nexave I picked up really cheap from Nashbar. It's never made the grade as the fast MTB commuter I first intended, so now it gets to be the grocery-hauler, wet/mud weather MTB.
Ghetto Thang
has it's shifters and front derailleur removed to go on the Nashbar MTB but is left as a 7-speed until the winter when it will metamorphose as a dedicated snow/ice bike with a single front crank and a fixed/free rear wheel. The studded tires will live permanently on it.
The Schwinn Voyageur
Will get a new sealed Bottom Bracket , the Tiagra triple crank and FD, and the XT M760 RD. I've fitted it with Kelly Take-Offs, so the counter-intuitive shifting direction of the right shifter is bugging me. I'll have to see if I can improve the 27" wheels I got from performance...
The Surly LHT
Will stay as it is.
